AEW Vs WWE: Enough is Enough

If you are on social media, odds are you keep hearing fans declare their loyalty and declaring war….but….consider this before you do….

If you are a Twitter user, you have probably seen tweets about AEW Versus WWE. If you are a Twitter user like me, you probably are growing sick of it. We have had a historic announcement of AEW having its first wrestling show in a few short months. What should have been a great occasion celebrated by wrestling fans, is slowly turning into anger from fans around the world. Not for the fact that it is happening, but how bad it has gotten on social media alone.

I kept giving my statements, but it has fallen on deaf ears, but enough is enough with AEW versus WWE. We are stuck in the 90s with the competition mindset. It gets to a point that a wrestling company can’t even get a television deal without the fans blowing their war horns and looking for another Monday Night war to begin again. Let it go! The reason why some of these wrestling companies that came and went over the years have struggled or didn’t reach full potential is that fans are so eager to pick sides for something that may not even happen!

Many companies including TNA now known as Impact, Global Force Wrestling, and even companies like Lucha Underground has had pressure from fans. Some may say it doesn’t matter and that it is just fans talking, but it does matter. Companies that had television deals and will get television deals in the future may suffer, because of the negative interaction with fans. The “war” that seems to be easy to ignite on social media.

That brings us to where we are today. AEW made an announcement, and not surprisingly, fans are treating this like it’s the 90s. Growing up watching WWE, WCW, and ECW, those were the main shows that were on television. Eventually, TNA started showing up on television, but the choices for what to watch on television were very limited. Most of the shows if we wanted to watch certain wrestlers, we had to search on YouTube. It is at an all-time high for wrestlers being on television, and that is a beautiful thing as a wrestling fan. We can see our favorite wrestlers of the independent circuit perform on television.

Leave the Monday Night war mentality behind, and enjoy the new era of wrestling for everyone, where we can get lots of wrestling on television more than ever before and enjoy ourselves as fans. It should be an opportunity to enjoy more wrestling every week more than ever before, as opposed to a war of survival. Do us all a favor, leave that mentality in the 90s, where it belongs, and just enjoy the biggest time for television and pro wrestling in general.

Social Media Uncut: Cris Cyborg

As Cris Cyborg prepares for an eventful fight in a few months, Cris takes time to address the direction for women athletes,MMA, the future, WWE Evolution, and a special message.

We are on the road to WWE Evolution, and the card is looking stacked. There are lots of returns and some debuts on the main roster for the first time ever. WWE Evolution is prominent for having the RAW Women’s Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey who dominated and led a revolution in the MMA World, as well as making her big debut in WWE earlier this year. Ronda’s rise came and helped revolutionize mixed martial arts forever.

Ronda’s time in the MMA World to now is only a little of what has happened with women in sports. We have seen many big personalities and dominate athletes, including the one that I have done a small Q&A with the dominate knockout artist of UFC, the reigning and defending UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg.

Cris Cyborg took the MMA World by storm from the very beginning and has shown pure domination that is beyond anything we have ever seen in any sport. She holds a notable victory over the Queen of Spades Shayna Baszler who is scheduled to face Kairi Sane at WWE Evolution for the NXT Women’s Championship. Cris Cyborg has kept the ball rolling to new heights and a strong advocate for equality for women in sports.

It was truly an honor, and I was nervous giving these questions to her since she is one of my favorites besides Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, but I wanted to get her input before WWE Evolution, and before her scheduled fight with Amanda Nunes at UFC 232. We cut right to the chase with what is seen in the present day for women athletes.

J.C: Do you feel it is amazing when you sit back and look at the past years of what women athletes including yourself have done to get to where we are today?

Cris Cyborg: There have been so many pioneers in the sport of WMMA that have helped grow opportunities for all of us.  I think it is amazing to see how far the sport has grown in such a little time, and I know female fighters are only going to continue getting more skilled and gaining more interest from fans.

J.C: Do you personally see more room for growth in terms of the women’s revolution in sports? (This includes WNBA etc).

Cris Cyborg: Yes, women in sports is only going to get bigger.  When men attending sporting events, they bring other men…guy friends.  When women attend sporting events they bring the entire family.  The more women are involved in sports the more families will be participating.

J.C: Since you are directly a big part of the revolution including Shayna Baszler, and Rowdy Ronda Rousey and so many others, the third question is: Who currently whether it is in the MMA World or wrestling world do you see as the next big star to just continue to rise?

Cris Cyborg: There are many women who excel in pushing the sport. Brazil, we have some of the best female fighters in Jessica Andrade, Ketlyn Viera, and Bethe Coreria they have helped grow the sport’s popularity in our country.

J.C: What message do you have to send to the ones all over social media who are trying to trash what WWE is doing?

Cris Cyborg: The WWE is sports entertainment.  Watch the athleticism and skills displayed inside the WWE ring and you will have a greater appreciation for the athletes competing in between the ropes!

We have seen so many great athletes in WWE, and all sports in general. It truly shows what WWE Evolution truly represents, and that’s evolving, appreciation, and admiration. This is more than just another WWE Pay-per-view event, it is a sign of hard work that many like Ronda Rousey in UFC, Serena and Venus Williams, WNBA Legend Lisa Leslie who all have paved the way in sports and have ultimately led to a big moment that is a glorious landmark for not just WWE superstars, but women athletes all around the world.

I would like to thank Cris Cyborg for taking time out of her busy schedule, I know she is in the process of facing another great talent at UFC 232. We have a lot to look forward to for the rest of 2018. WWE Evolution October 28th, and later to end 2018 to keep the ball rolling, we got Cris Cyborg against Amanda Nunes basically to end the year with a bang! So much to look forward to, and hope you join us for WWE Evolution, which starts a month from now as of today! Be sure to tune in! We know Cris Cyborg will be keeping a close eye on the event!
